We are currently working with leadership teams from around the state on our upcoming legislative plans. The input from these teams is crucial in providing insight and education to our legislators on issues concerning corrections officers in Virginia. Topics range from overhauling the state’s grievance process to issues the Union’s access to correctional facilities and our members.
Remember……….This is still America. People in positions of power don’t have to like or agree with us on everything but nobody can take away your rights as an American to form and join a union. There is nothing more American than standing united with our brothers and sisters for a common purpose or goal. This is how this country was built and this is the only way to move forward.
The Department of Corrections is placing roadblocks at every turn to prevent you from having any voice or participation in decisions that affect you, your co-workers, and your family’s livelihood.
There is strength in numbers. We are the largest workforce in the state. If we all stand together, there are no limits to what can be accomplished.
Talk to your co-workers. Let them know you are in the fight. Let them know and understand that if they’re not willing to join the fight that they might as well be fighting against you.
This is your future, your family’s livelihood, and the livelihood of people who wear that uniform for generations to come.
